Well, I wouldn't say this with any great certainty - BUT it might help in some cases.
We all know that there are good bacteria and bad.
Many good bacteria live in our gut and we regularly help them out by supplying our gut with a few more good bacteria from time to time.
Sometimes bacteria are not so nice to us and we spend an entire weekend sat on a toilet feeling sorry for ourselves.
We also have bacteria on our skin
Research - in mice - has shown that a certain bacteria that is on the skin (Staphylococcus epidermidis) produces chemicals that can prevent and/or slow down the growth of some cancer types.
The testing on mice used Ultra Violet light to stimulate the growth of melanoma cells (skin cancer cells). They found that the mice that had Staphylococcus epidermidis, producing the chemical 6-HAP - the cancer killing toxin - on their skin had no signs of melanoma.
Whereas the poor mice who did not have this chemical 6-HAP, under the same conditions, did have signs of melanoma.
Is washing our skin everyday with chemicals that kill 99.9% of all bacteria such a good thing?
Well, after going to the toilet, and before preparing food I would say that this is definitely a good thing - one or two cases of food poisoning have proven that!
However, being anal about cleaning our skin and been washed from every bacteria could actually be harmful for our health.
